Scope of Work

The project was defined by its high-specification new build construction, focusing on a "future-proof" approach to homebuilding. Key features include:

  • Energy Efficiency: A comprehensive suite of eco-tech including air source heat pumps, MHVR air circulation, underfloor heating throughout, and solar panels with battery storage.

  • Architectural Craftsmanship: Vaulted ceilings with exposed timbers, handcrafted bespoke joinery, including stunning Kitchen and hidden pantry, Walk in wardrobes, internal doors and 2 boot rooms, as well as high-performance, full-height glazing.

  • Multifunctional Spaces: While still feeling like a country home, this property has all of the mod con features making it feel like it has always been here, but with a sleek modern feel that you won't have to do a single thing to it for decades to come. The build included just over 6,000 square foot of property, as well as a double car port and summerhouse with it's own bathroom and kitchenette.

Blending Innovation & Comfort

The heart of the home is the magnificent bespoke handmade kitchen/dining/family room, which uses vaulted ceilings and exposed timber to create an expansive, light-filled atmosphere. The transition between the indoors and the outdoors is fluid, facilitated by handmade bespoke French doors that open onto an expansive patio and the established garden beyond.

CHALLENGES

Working within the constraints of a conservation area, Fallon & Co Builders had to ensure that the property's historic essence remained intact while introducing modern technologies and materials. The careful balance of building a new property is such a quant village in a Cambridge village combined with sustainable practices, made the project both complex and rewarding.

The Challenges of Sustainable Design

Creating a home of this scale while maintaining a carbon-conscious footprint required meticulous planning. The challenge was to integrate robust systems—like the plant room housing the internal environmental systems—without intruding upon the sleek, handcrafted aesthetic of the living spaces. The result is a home that operates with intelligent precision, invisible to the eye but felt in the absolute comfort of the internal climate.

RESULT

This property is more than just a residence; it is a sanctuary. By combining high-end luxury finishes—such as bespoke finishes and all the mod con's you can think of —with the practicalities of a 10-year new-build warranty and self-sustaining energy systems, the property ticks all the boxes. It is a rare example of a home that functions as both a private and a peaceful retreat that will withstand the test of time.
